After being very involved in music as a youngster ( Chorister at Ely, Trombone player, Piano player, county youth orchestra, Guildhall School of Music) Life got in the way and music fell by the wayside. Now I am retired and felt a craving to go back to music and it's the best decision I have made for a long time. I started by joining my local Rock choir 3 years ago which is fun and sociable and we meet to rehearse every week. I have been having weekly piano lessons for 3 years and it all came flooding back to me. I just love it. Rock Choir was just not enough for me so I dived much deeper into music. I completed all the Graded ABRSM theory book up to Grade 5 with home study and obtained a distinction after being marked and with discussion with my teacher. A couple of months ago I was invited (and accepted by them) to join a classical chamber choral group called Cantamus and it opened my eyes to new and quite intensive challenges. We meet every week to rehearse. It is totally refreshing to really test my sight reading in 4+ part harmony with a small group of like minded singers. We sing works by Bach, Weelkes, Noell, and others and l'm looking forwards to concerts which will start in April for me. Piano however is one of my go-to pleasures and I will continue to learn every day all the time.
